More about equipment & upgrades
Replacing the gear that runs the pool
Pumps, filters, chlorinators, heating, automation and lighting. The equipment that keeps a pool running, and what it costs you when it is past its best.
Pool equipment rarely fails all at once. It gets louder, it holds a level less well, it takes longer to clear the water, and it quietly costs more to run every month it keeps going. An old single-speed pump can be the largest power draw on a property without anyone noticing, because it has always been there.
We test what you have before recommending anything. Sometimes the answer is a repair, and we will say so. Where a replacement genuinely is the better call, we size it to your pool rather than to the biggest unit on the shelf, install it, and test it before we leave.
Everything is quoted before the work is done, so you are deciding with the number in front of you rather than after the fact.
Each service on this page
Pump Replacement or Upgrade
Supply and installation of a new pool pump. Modern pumps run at a fraction of the power of older units, which is usually where the cost of the upgrade comes back.
- Your current pump assessed before it is replaced
- The right size for your pool, not the biggest one
- Supplied, installed and tested
- Quoted before any work
Filter Replacement or Upgrade
Supply and installation of a new filter, or an upgrade where the existing one was never right for the pool. A filter that cannot keep up shows in water that will not stay clear.
- Existing filter and media assessed
- Sized to the pool and the pump
- Supplied, installed and tested
- Quoted before any work
Chlorinator Replacement or Upgrade
Supply and installation of a new chlorinator. Cells wear out, and a chlorinator that cannot hold a level quietly costs you in chemicals and in water that keeps slipping.
- Existing unit and cell tested first
- A unit matched to your pool
- Supplied, installed and tested
- Quoted before any work
Heater or Heat Pump
Supply and installation of pool heating, or replacement of a unit that is past it. We test what is there before recommending anything.
- Existing heating tested first
- Options explained in plain terms
- Supplied, installed and tested
- Quoted before any work
Automation & Controls
Supply and installation of pool automation and controls, so the pump, heating and chlorination run to a schedule rather than by hand.
- What your current setup can and cannot do
- Automation matched to the equipment you have
- Supplied, installed and set up
- Quoted before any work
Pool Lighting
Supply and installation of pool lighting, or replacement of units that have failed.
- Existing lighting checked first
- Options explained in plain terms
- Supplied and installed
- Quoted before any work
I'm Not Sure - What Should I Upgrade?
Tell us what you have and what it is doing. We will look at it and tell you what is worth replacing, what has life in it yet, and what would actually save you money.
- Your equipment assessed as it stands
- What is worth replacing and what is not
- A recommendation with the reasoning
What customers say about this work
Sent Greg a video of my pump making a strange noise and a week before Christmas he organised a new pump for me and his Service Manager, Gus, to install it. Gus…
Questions we get asked
Is it worth repairing or replacing?
It depends what it is and how old it is. We test it first and tell you honestly. Equipment that keeps failing usually costs more in call-outs than it does to replace, and we will tell you when you have reached that point.
Will a new pump really save money?
Usually, yes, because an older single-speed pump can be one of the largest power draws on a property and it runs every day. We will tell you what your current one is costing you before you commit to anything.
How do you decide what size equipment I need?
By the pool and the way you use it, not by what is on the shelf. Equipment that is too big for a pool costs more to run and does not do a better job.
Do you install the equipment as well as supply it?
Yes. Supplied, installed and tested on the day, and quoted before any of it starts.
Can you upgrade equipment while keeping the rest?
Yes, most upgrades are one part of the system at a time. We check that what you are keeping will work properly with what is going in.
